Default 1998-02 VFN Sunoco Style Hood

So I just finally received my 98-2002 sunoco style bolt on hood without center line! It was quite a process (not common) just don't let your gf order it for you for Christmas... Anyways it came with a couple scratches talked to VFN most likely the delivers/shippers who messed it up. But oh well Ill end up painting it later on.

Had some quick questions! Read the instructions given to install this. Anyone who's bought & installed this hood on a 98-02 Camaro have any advice? I know they highly recommend not to use the stock struts & get lighter hood struts (did not know that ahead of time) now should I go ahead & order some if so who/where to order from. Or I've seen that people just use one stock one for it? Would I be safe to just use one stock one or just I definitely just buy who lighter struts? Anything else I should buy?

Thanks!

VFN hoods are super fucking light. Mines a lift off 5.5 vfn hood and is mounted to the rails. i'd call them for recommendations before even trying one strut. who knows, maybe u will be fine but damn this hood is light.

You WILL break that shit if you use both hood struts. You can be ghetto and use 1 strut, or you can buy 2 softer ones. Or you can be really ghetto and just use a broomstick.
I forget which ones work as for using a pair

Yea Ill probably just use one for now until I get it painted & buy VFN light weight ones. People have said they've gone years with one stock one & no problems

Got it installed! Couldn't be more happy with it/the look. Still need some fitment adjusting. The back of the hood closest to the windshield sticks up a little bit so I think I need to drill holes in the hinge for the placement. Then I think I need to raise the levelers because it kind of dips low in the front. Ill get it painted eventually but not in a hurry. What you guys think?
