Default 9" differential choices

So I currently have a spool, and works awesome of course because it's always posi, BUT it can be a bare at times when driving around town and especially the tire wear. What are some good choices to replace the spool but still keep both tires locked? Are Detroit lockers any good? Spring or clutch types?

I need it to handle some power, but also be more street friendly...

Default Locker...

I don't have a 9" but i do have a locker in my lil 10-bolt. Very street friendly. Took a couple weeks to get used to...the locking and unlocking going in/out of the garage is a constant reminder! But if 1/4 mile is your thing (like me) I would give it a full recommendation. Eric

Detroit Lockers can handle it. Ultimate is a selectable locker, air or electric. Open until you flip a switch, then it is a spool.

Tino, Call Sean at River City Differentials in Gold River, he's the best in Nor Cal.

Thanks guys. Steve, I'll give him a call and pick his brain a little. I'm up in the air if I really want to spend the extra money to switch to a different unit. Shit last year I put around 1500 miles on the car so it hardly gets driven.

Well I'm still running the spool. For my setup it works but still thinking to change it if I do more street driving.
