You guys think this is a good setup? Or is the hotcam too small for such big heads?
I am thinking of buying this setup used but not sure how it will handle and whether or not smog will be an issue. The FLP's are dual cat so there is already one problem? Any ideas?
Here are the flow numbers on the heads-->GTP Stage II heads flow 268cfm at .550 intake and 206cfm at .550 exhast. Max porting with Crane dual coil fat springs, ferra 2.00/1.56 race valves, Also with 1074 fel-pro's compression is 11.3:1 runs on pump gas!
They are used only 1.5 months.
What else will I need? 1.6 Rockers?

I would get a bigger cam. If you are really worried about smog then it is a good chice, but it is too small to take advantage of the heads. I have the same GTP heads on my car and a small cam{211/219 LPE cam} and I wish that I had gone bigger. Of course now I'm fixing that with a full on stroker motor with a large/huge cam and a lot of nitrous. So in short if you don't want to end up like me...get your self a 224/236 Comp cam. ;-}

Matt,
Would it be beneficial to me to upgrade my throttle body to a 58mm or should I just stay with the 52mm?
Reason I am saying that is because my MAF is 75mm, that should be all that I am flowing right, it is the bottle neck in my system so whether I go with a bigger TB it shouldn't matter since all I flow is 75mm and not 104mm or 116mm?

If you have a stock bottom end 350 a 52mm will be plenty. I run a 58mm on my 350, but I just bought it with plans to transfer it over to my new stroker. A 58mm won't hurt, but it is not necessary.

Even with the bigger heads?

I'd say screw the hotcam and get maybe a CC305... I think that'll smog and it's a pretty stout cam that will give you a bit of power. Matt's right about the GTP Stage II heads being too much for that cam. I'm seriously thinking now about buying an ARE shortblock and putting a set of GTP Stage II LT4 heads and manifold on it and calling it a day.... This will be with a fairly uhhh large cam (read: it won't smog).... http://www.norcal-ls1.com/noncgi/smile.gif But yeah go for the biggest cam you can get away with. Xtreme Energy cams from Comp Cams have made quite a few people on the east coast happy. Which one was Randy Brown running again??? I think it was the 224/236 xtreme energy....

I am getting a bigger cam, I am probably going to go with the one that Matt recommended. I will just get it smogged under the table.
My question is do you think the 58mm TB is worth it with those size heads? Or can I just stay with the 52mm. I really don't want to try to track down a 58mm and then port my intake if I don't have to.

I'd Recommend going with the GTP-6 cam to match the heads. Lots of people on CamaroZ28.com have had good luck with that combo.

The GTP 6 cam is a good choice also. As far as 52 vs. 58mm I would definitely port the manifold no matter what so it will match the heads. The choice of 52 or 58 won't make a difference on a stock displacement motor. A 350 only needs so much air, but like I said a 58mm won't hurt anything even though it isn't necessary.

Matt,
So you think I should port the intake where it meets up with the heads right not actually where it meets up with intake.
I will look into the GTP Cam. Anyone know the specs on it?

I would port the whole intake. Most guys will port the runners and open up the front to 58mm{they are 52mm stock}. It isn't very expensive. I don't know the GTP specs, but I do know that many people have used the comp 224/236 with success. In a 6 speed that combo has gone 12.11@119 N/A. It would be a solid 11 second car on motor with an auto/convertor.
