Well I've been dealign with this oen forever, I get soem really bad knock, both at idle (which I had to set at 1200, I get max knock anywhere near 1k) and under light throttle, like in the log below.
Here is what I have changed:
-Removed and resealed intake
-new IAC valve (also closed the throttle blades alot, explaning reading of 160 at some points in log).
-new EGR valve
-new knock sensor
-new 02 sensors
-valve lash checked and reset twice on all valves
-OBD1-PCM: tried a couple of files with LT1edit found professionally tuned on the web, all gave bad knock, one was better then the other, tried tweaking that, got it to not show knock for one run (turn of the key)... next day fire car back up, knock was back! maybe the first run was a fluke?
Please be kind when checking this link, if you don't know how to read a log, don't click on it. I have limited badnwith and have it setup so that people that know how to read it, have an easier time (colors).
Blue means no or less then 1* of knock, red means more then 1* of knock.

Have you tried a different MAF?

First thing that strikes me is why is your timing so high?
I don't have working scanner/logging software at the moment but is it typical to see 40+ degrees of advance at ~25% throttle above 2,000 rpm like I see on your log?
Also beware of being way too lean at idle/cruise, that combined with too aggressive a timing curve produces "tip in" ping which is the car detonating when you first get on the throttle until it can recover sufficiently with fuel and reduced timing.
now as far as knock at idle, I have no theories there other than something banging around under the hood.

since spark is rpm and map dependant, if I have a low map, at low rpm I can actually get 40+spark, that is normal for an LT1... At least according to the tables I had in my stock pcm.
The knock is present when I use stock spark's as well as when I used modified ones.
It's also there (a little less, granted) when I used 100octane:
WARNING: my IE slows down like hell with this size of an html file, I suggest you right click and select save as and download it to your hardrive before viewing it.

PS: The MAF idea is a hella good one! I'll try that wheneve I see Darko next.

I don't know what your timing table is like but maybe you can take a look at another LT1's timing tables or try swapping in someone else's PCM temporarily to see if the knock goes away. I have preset timing tables with DFI and NEVER does my spark advance get anywhere NEAR 40 degrees.... I think my engine maxes out at 36 or 37 degrees advance at WOT and 100% load....

at WOT my timing's also low.
I have swapped in back to the old timing table, stock, swapped also a bunch of the other ones from the web (not the 2 radical ones).
Trust me on a stock LT1 pcm, timing goes over 40 under low load.
At WOT (when map's at 100) timing is below way below 40.
My knock is not at WOT, my knock seems almost random...
I actually read alot of interesting things on LT1 edit's mailign list on www.topica.com
I think my knock sensor wire is acting up like and antena and picking up false knock. I'm gona try running a sheilded wire, and see what that does.

are you running a lt4 knock module?I had false knock from my stock one and after the module change I havent had any problems.I also put on an opti one time and it went on but not all the way and that made my timing go out of whack.I thought that it only went on one way, but there are actually two ways the right way and the wrong way.Just my .02

Yes, I have an LT4 knock module.
I have the roiginal opti on there 75k miles so that could really well be the culpit, but I have no hesitation/surge at high rpm's.
The car runs fine, it's jsut the pcm that thinks there is knock.
I'm gona try runing a coaxial wire to sheild the knock snesor wire, I heard the wire is often a source for false knock.

Well you said that it still pings and shows knock with 100 octane!!! That's impossible for it to be REAL knock. How about totally getting rid of your LT4 knock sensor and swapping back to your stocker if you still have it or borrow someone elses. I'm imagining it's a faulty knock sensor. Wait a minute you said that you already swapped the knock sensor. Damn. I'm stumped brotha... But be assured that it is not real knock. Number 1 it's a idle which is very weird and #2 it does it with 100 octane which is waaaay weird. Are you sure that your changes with LT1Edit didn't jack something up???? Or did it do this prior to ANY LT1Edit changes and you just used the LT1Edit to fix it?????
