Default Range Rover Sport S/C - Full correction detail (long...)

2006 Range Rover Sport - full correction detail

First off, big thanks to Jason Payne for putting me in touch with the owner of this car. Great guy who really appreciates hard work and wanted it looking its best. I'll be working on his DB9 this weekend. Anyway, this a 2006 Range Rover Sport with the supercharger. VERY nice SUV. This owner had bought it recently and wanted to get it looking better than new. I was happy to help. Upon inspection of the car, I noticed that the previous owner did not care for it at all. Extreme baked on brake dust, extreme contaminents on the surface of the paint, and severe swirls all over it. There was also some paintwork evident on the left passenger door, horrible holograms, sanding marks, and pigtails left in the clear. Thankfully this whole thing cleaned up very nicely. To finish this one off was a very high end wax: Swissvax Concorso, applied by bare hand. This wax gives an incredible lustor and depth to the paint, warmth of color, and great durability for a wax (about 3 months). Most over the counter waxes last about 1 month +/- a couple weeks. Ok enough jibber jabber, onto the pics!

Total time for completion: 23 hours

When I arrived, here is what I started with

Swirls...

more swirls

yes, still more swirls.....

nasty exhaust tips

You can see how dry and dull the paint looks

The wheels.... this took a while...

After about 2 1/2 hours on the wheels and wheel wells, it was time to wash it. Onto the pre-washing soak...

Here is the Meguiar's mild claybar... This is how heavy the contamination was on this car. It started out pure white. Yet, this is NOT after doing the whole car! This pic was taken after only doing the top edge of the rear panel (about a 4"x20" section)!!! After this I knew I needed the heavy artillery. So out came the Meguiar's aggressive red clay (safe only if immediately followed by buffing)

After claying, it was time for the next wash. Now you can see the true condition of the paint and swirls without dirt and contaminents interfering.

Pictures before the buffing process, under the halogens.

The repainted door. You can see the holograms from someone who didn't know how to buff properly.

More problems on the same door, you can see the pigtails here

50/50 shot

Another

Fully corrected!

A few more 50/50 shots of various spots

After 16 hours of compounding and polishing, it was brought back outside for another bath to remove the polishing dust and any polishing oils remaining. You can see the clarity restored to the paint and ZERO swirls.

After drying, it was time for the Swissvax Concorso. Always fun applying a super luxury wax bare handed. And here are the results.

Again, no swirls of any kind.

Hope you enjoyed the read
